UTILISE AUTHENTICITY AND PERSONAL TRUTH TO ELEVATE PERFORMANCE

Timothée Chalamet, Margot Robbie, Zendaya — what do these world class performers have in common? A pure and playful dedication to authenticity on screen. Whether they are baring their soul in a gritty drug fuelled rant, putting on high-heels in a plastic dream house, or giving a rousing speech to an army of sand warriors, these actors somehow unapologetically infuse each of their characters with their own personal truth – their 'Authentic Selves'. ‘Truth to Text’ presents a tool based approach that helps actors reliably access this level of authenticity in performance. It is a ’Best Of’ technique that combines the revolutionary Instrumental work of Meisner and Eric Morris with the ‘Action’ based analysis and rehearsal approach of Practical Aesthetics (the foundation technique of the internationally renowned Atlantic Acting School in New York). Actors of all skill levels will learn a series of practical tools to help them to connect to their authentic selves while simultaneously opening up their body, voice and emotional range (Morris, Meisner). They will then use that new-found freedom and authenticity to personally connect to text, and… just… play, moment to moment, within the imaginative realities of any given scene (Practical Aesthetics). The universe cannot resist authenticity – let's learn to bring our truth to text.

About Jerome:

Jerome Meyer began his training at QUT in Brisbane (graduating with a BA in Acting), intensively studying the Eric Morris Technique for three years under mentor Charles Allen (who was directly accredited in the technique by Morris himself). Since graduating, Jerome has spent much of his down time training in America, both in New York at the internationally acclaimed Atlantic Acting School, and Los Angeles under world renowned teacher Ivan Chubbuck (having been personally invited to attend her advanced class after completing an intensive in Sydney). Jerome began working as an audition and acting coach in early 2018 and since then has seen several high-profile Australian actors (such as Tim Franklin and Jake Ryan) book jobs under his mentorship — the most notable being Ryan Corr who secured his role on Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon through auditions directed by Jerome. In 2022 Jerome took up the role of Head Lecturer for the Acting Foundation and Filmmaking units at JMC academy in Melbourne and Sydney. As an actor Jerome has appeared in leading roles in multiple Australian feature-films including Venus & Adonis (Sport for Jove, 2022), which he co-directed and co-produced under the banner of his own company SOAP productions. Jerome’s break-out role was as the titular charter of Joe Cinque in Joe Cinque's Consolation (official selection TIFF, 2016). Also skilled in live performance and theatre Jerome has been a member of the ensemble cast for Australia’s leading Shakespeare company — Sport for Jove Theatre Company —  since 2016, and has played multiple leading roles under the direction of acclaimed director Damien Ryan. On the small screen he has appeared in Network 10's Secrets and Lies and Channel 7's Home & Away. Jerome has also spent the last 10 years producing, writing and directing film content in both the creative and commercial space.
