The Art of Comic Performance
Comedy is an 8-week course designed to help actors develop confidence, timing, and their unique comedic voice. Led by Roz Hammond within TAFTA’s structured training environment, students explore sketch comedy, stand-up fundamentals, improvisation, character work, and scene performance. Focused on truth, play, and spontaneity, the class builds practical skills while encouraging creativity, risk-taking, and authentic comedic expression across multiple styles.
Term 3: Improv
Unleash your creativity, step out of your comfort zone, and discover the joy of play! Over 8 weeks, you’ll learn the essentials of improv, active listening, “Yes, And,” building trust, and connecting with your scene partners. Through playful exercises, two-person scenes, and ensemble games, you’ll light up your spark, explore character, and learn to be fully present in the moment. Laugh, experiment, and discover how fun and freeing improv can be, all while gaining confidence, sharpening your instincts, and learning to trust yourself on stage and off (whilst making friends).
“It’ll be one of the most transformative things you’ve ever done”
