Every Wednesday night TAFTA will host an open studio. Actors will pre-prepare scenes with a scene partner and have the opportunity to come in and workshop that scene with a teacher.

The first session will be with John Orcsik, however as the course goes on we will get different teachers in each week, so the actors can pick and choose who they want to workshop with.

Oct 18th - Jason Christou

Oct 25th - Jason Christou

HOW SIGN UPS WILL WORK

1. Actors will sign up to a THE TAFTA STUDIO membership via GoTeamUp for $100. This membership lasts 3 months.

2. TAFTA will send a private link via email to those who sign up for the membership, which will allow them to register for as many of the 13 sessions as they like. Minimum 3 sessions across the 3 months.

3. You can register for single sessions at a time, costing $50 per session

4. OR you can book multiple sessions at once, at a discounted rate:

3 sessions for $45 per session ($135)

5 sessions for $40 per session ($200)

13 sessions for $20 per session ($260)

Ages: 18+

Class limit: 12 people

About John Orcsik:

John Orcsik, started TAFTA on the Gold Coast in 1994. He has written, directed and performed for stage, the small screen and the silver screen and has been sharing his insights into the film and television industry with students across Australia for over twenty years.

He has performed in countless Australian film and television productions with major sustaining roles in numerous TV series and continues to work as an actor alongside his desire for mentoring new generations of performers.

About Jason Christou:

Jason Christou is a Melbourne-based creator/writer/director working across film, television documentary, interactive and games.

Trained in screenwriting at RMIT and in directing at VCA, Jason’s screenwriting projects have been selected to the Warner Bros and The Blacklist’s ‘Aussie List’ and named as finalists for Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest and the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Jason’s short films have played at Academy-accredited film festivals worldwide including Palm Springs.

At TAFTA Jason brings his directing and screenwriting experience together to support students to better understand their own process, strengthen their actor/director relationships and to create strong characters whether you’re writing from scratch or interpreting from the page.
