  • TAFTA Productions 20 Haughton Road Oakleigh, VIC, 3166 Australia (map)

Teen Holiday Program

Ages 13-18 | 10:00am – 3:00pm | Thu 9th & Fri 10th July | $220 + GST
What to bring: healthy lunch, snacks & water bottle

Designed for aspiring young performers ready to take the next step, this two-day screen acting intensive focuses on practical performance, professional audition technique, and real on-set experience.

Across the weekend, students will work on:

• A mock audition including a one-person filmed scene (self-tape style) and chat to camera
• A two-person scene filmed in our studio using a three-camera setup (suitable for showreel use)
• Hands-on experience operating cameras and understanding coverage

A key focus of the intensive is perfecting the chat-to-camera which is an essential skill for auditions. Students will learn how to introduce themselves naturally, confidently slate, adjust energy for screen, and connect authentically without over-performing. Each participant will complete a mock audition process, receiving constructive feedback on both performance and presentation.

The two-person scene component places students into a professional-style studio environment, working within a structured three-camera setup. Participants will rotate through both cast and crew roles, exploring directing, camera operation, and set protocol, while developing the ability to take notes, adjust performance, and collaborate under real production conditions.

Improv exercises will be woven throughout the weekend to strengthen listening, spontaneity, emotional connection, and adaptability, all directly supporting scripted scene work.

Industry sessions will cover:

• How agents operate and how to seek representation
• Understanding auditions and current industry expectations
• On-set etiquette and professional behaviour
• How to read and break down a call sheet

By the end of the intensive, students will leave with filmed material, sharper audition technique, a confident chat-to-camera, and a clearer understanding of how the screen industry operates, both in front of and behind the lens.

Meet Lana
Led by Lana Golja, a professional actor and mentor with over 15 years of experience in the screen industry and working with young people, these classes are designed to help students build confidence, develop their craft, and discover their unique voice on camera.

Lana began her acting career while still in Year 12, landing her first on-screen role in the ABC/CBBC television series Worst Year of My Life, Again!. Having balanced auditions, filming commitments, school, and part-time work herself, she understands the challenges young actors face and provides practical insights into navigating the industry as a teenager.

Most recently, Lana wrapped filming the Hallmark feature film Love On Deck in Queensland and has also filmed an action feature and two US feature films, all set for release in the coming year. Drawing on her ongoing experience in the industry, she helps students understand not only performance technique, but also the realities of auditions, self-tapes, set etiquette, and building a sustainable acting career.
