ONL: Q&A with Jo Briant - Casting Director and Actor

We are excited to have Casting Director, Actor and Acting Coach Jo Briant join us for a free industry Q&A in lockdown!

Jo Briant has been a working actor for 35 years while also working as a casting director. She knows the ins and outs of the casting process, auditioning process and acting process - on both sides of the camera!

In this informal Q&A we will be discussing how to make an impact in your audition, what techniques you can use to access the real you, and exactly what a casting director does. The floor is also open to YOU to ask any questions around the casting or acting process that you want!

Use this down time to upgrade your understanding of the casting process, and get some motivational gems from Jo!

About Jo:

Jo has worked extensively in theatre, film and television in New Zealand and Australia appearing in shows such as Wham Bam Thank You M’am, Home and Away, The Moodys, All Saints, Water Rats, Murder Call, Big Sky, Shortland Street and numerous commercials and voiceovers. She is also an experienced Director, Acting Coach, Success Coach and Energy Healer.

She loves combining acting and casting as her wealth of experience and intimate understanding of an actors’ world both on screen and off enables her to guide other actors in a fun and nurturing way. As a working actor, she strives for authenticity in her own work and demands no less from the actors who come into the casting room.

PREPARATION:
Jo will be answering your questions about the casting process, the audition process (including self tapes) and what casting like to see in actors. She will also answer any questions from the acting side too - about process, confidence, relaxation and the letting go and doing the work!

You will receive a confirmation email 48 hours before the beginning of the Q&A with a Zoom Link and the opportunity to submit any questions you would like the facilitator to ask.

STRUCTURE:
The Q & A will start with a collation of questions sent through by participants and then run on to an open forum where participants post questions in the chat and our facilitator will read out the questions with your name (or anonymously if you specify).
