SYNOPSIS
While house sitting, Ben sees an opportunity to court Daniela with a bit of Netflix and chill. However, his nosy neighbour Bock has other plans...
IN ALEX’S WORDS:
Not unlike the story in the film, I was house sitting when I decided along with my good mate Harrison Lane, who plays Ben, that we simply had to make something using the free house as a location.
With a couple of days left to spare, I wrote the script in the afternoon the day before shooting it, which I wouldn't recommend doing, and luckily I'd convinced my regular DOP Conor Jamieson, Sound Recordist Sarah Burrial, and a very talented actress I'd never met, Jarita Winslow, to come on board despite not knowing much at all about what we'd be shooting!
I am indebted to them for trusting the 'Let's just do it' philosophy. It was a fun shoot and I always find it's a beneficial exercise to work within constraints that force you to focus and get something done! It was also an interesting experience acting in a film I was directing, which can be a risky move, but hopefully in this instance it was a commitment to going down with the ship.
