Our Full-Time and Part-Time Screen Acting Programs are dedicated courses designed to give you the tools you need to work professionally as an actor. You will study in a range of areas aimed at helping you understand the film industry in depth and prepare you to work at the level of a professional screen actor.
Dreaming of working as a professional Actor? Want Agents, Directors, Producers and Casting Directors to know who you are?
At TAFTA, we train our actors to Industry Standard, preparing them thoroughly for the demands and expectations of the film industry. This also includes learning how to create their own work, endowing confidence in the face of auditions and on-set experiences and giving actors all the tools necessary to manage their creative careers.
The Australian Film & Television Academy is one of Australia's premier screen acting institutions with our previous graduate students & regular workshop attendees working on productions such as;
Pacific Rim: Uprising (USA), 13 Reasons Why (USA), Once Upon A Time (USA), Star Trek Beyond (USA), Prison Break (USA), The Vampire Diaries (USA), Supernatural (USA), iZombie (USA), Pawno, Neighbours, Home & Away, Picnic at Hanging Rock and many more. Many graduates have embarked on creative journeys as Actor/Directors and Actor/Writers developing their own work to critical acclaim such as successful TAFTA graduate Osama Sami who wrote and starred in Ali's Wedding in 2017.
Our Full Time Program not only arms you with the acting knowledge required to become a professional performer in the industry but develops your personal strengths and mental capacity to be able to handle the hardships of the industry. Our classes are held to the industry etiquette and standard that you will experience on a professional set, so you understand the language used, why the set runs the way it does, punctuality, the longevity and the importance of behaviour as a tool to build strong connections with the industry professionals you meet. This industry is small and built on word of mouth, this can either get you a job or stop you from getting a job. We also maintain relationships with all our students. They are a part of our family and the door is always open if any actor needs guidance along their acting journey.

" I was fortunate enough to take part in TAFTA's first 20-week course in Melbourne and it was the catalyst in a chain reaction of successes at the beginning of my acting career. Before my twenty weeks was up, I had landed a bit part on NEIGHBOURS and a guest role on Seven's WINNERS AND LOSERS... What else can I say? Pre-course: struggling through auditions. Post-course: working on a professional level. Viva la TAFTA!!!"
