ABOUT THE COURSES
SCREEN ACTING FOR BEGINNERS #1
Do you want to be an actor but you don't know where to begin? Have you done previous study but still feel you need more training in order to know how to act in film and television?
Our Beginners #1 course is designed to give the budding actor the confidence and know-how to get up in front of a camera with a professional attitude and focus that lends itself to the beginnings of a great acting career.
This 8-week course is simple, practical, informative and essential to the beginner. Conducted by one of Australia’s most experienced and respected actors, Mick Preston. Whether you've had some experience or are just starting out, this is your chance to give it a go! This course deals with crucial elements of acting, giving the students tools that is fundamental to screen acting:
Learning the nuances of Screen vs Stage Acting
Skills to enhance script memorisation
Learning + understanding camera angles
Adjusting performance to enhance screen impact
Learning camera + screen terminology
Character analysis + developing complex characters
At the end of the 8 sessions students will have learnt a technique with which to approach any film and television script.
The last class of every Beginners #1 class is held as a screen-test workshop with a Casting Director!

SCREEN ACTING FOR BEGINNERS #2
This course is the second part to Screen Acting for Beginners #1 also conducted by Mick Preston.

This course builds on the elements of screen acting, giving the student a clear understanding of screen acting requirements such as:
Understanding complex scenes
Understanding the difference between Stage Acting and Screen Acting
How to learn a script quickly under fast turn around pressure
Mechanics of the camera. Understanding angles and the screen
Understanding screen terminology
How to deliver a truthful performance
Auditioning for Film and TV
Auditioning for Commercials
PLUS Once again, the last class will be a screen-test workshop with a Casting Director!

Mick Preston trained as an actor in New York, where he studied with the late Uta Hagen, including being personally invited by Ms Hagen to be one of only a handful of students to perform in the documentary, 'Acting Class by Uta Hagen'/ Check out Mick's extensive list of credits on IMDB, including Neighbours, City Homicide, Satisfaction, The Legend of Ben Hall, Godzilla and many more.
