DAVID MAN - Director (US)
David Man is an award winning director, writer and actor, as well as an experienced casting director and a highly respected teacher and coach. He has been primary acting coach to such prominent actors and singers as: Mary McDonnell (2 time academy Award nominee), Susan Stroman (3 time Tony Award Winner), Lenka Peterson (Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award winner), Jeff Fahey (Silverado, Lawnmower Man) Alexandra Paul (Bay Watch), Sharon Lawrence, Natasha Gregson Wagner, as well as musical performers Helen Donath (Leading Soprano, Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Vienna, Berlin and Paris Opera) Janet Williams (Leading soprano, Berlin Stadtsoper, Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, etc.) Marni Nixon (Tony Award nominee, three time Emmy winner and famous "ghost singing" voice of the stars--Natalie Wood, Deborah Kerr and Audrey Hepburn, to name a few).
He has directed well over 200 productions ranging from Edward Albee and Neil Simon to classical drama. Mr. Man directed the famous production of Viveca Lindfors' one-woman show "ANNA" in NYC and Washington D.C., for which he won critical raves. He created and directed "MIXED NUTS" (A record breaking engagement at The Ballroom in NYC) the Los Angeles productions of "HOLLYWOOD FOLLIES" and the award winning "OUT ON A WHIM" starring Cindy Benson, produced by HBO for the HBO Workspace. Mr. Man was resident director for Arthur Kopit's Playwrights Development Group in NYC, as well as director of dramatic specials for Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles. He is a recipient of three coveted ASCAP Awards for his critically acclaimed New York productions "ADULTS ONLY, NO PETS" and "SOAP" which was produced at The Lion Theatre on Manhattans newly rebuilt Theatre Row.
Additionally, David has guest starred in over 40 television episodes and Movies of the Week, as well as serving as dialogue director and dialect coach on many films including: "THE BUSHIDO BLADE"(James Earl Jones, Toshiro Mifune) "THE IVORY APE" (Jack Palance) "SCANNERS 3: THE NEW ORDER", and most recently, "LIVE WIRE"(for which he also doubled as personal coach to Pierce Brosnan.)
Mr. Man was casting director for the CBS Daytime Drama "SEARCH FOR TOMORROW"
as well as Senior Staff Instructor at The Weist-Barron Television School in New York City.
He was Artistic Director of the NYC based ARTISTS' PRODUCTION ENSEMBLE and one
of the most sought after directors and acting coaches in New York and L.A.
